At St. Joseph Heritage Medical Group, we provide a state-of-the-art osteoporosis screening utilizing the DEXA Bone Density scan, a painless non-invasive test that measures the density of the bone at the hip. By measuring bone mass, it is possible to predict fracture risk in the same manner that measuring blood pressure can help predict the risk of stroke. DEXA is quick, painless and the preferred method to measure bone mass.

Early detection and treatment of bone loss is key to healthy aging.  Screening is generally recommended for women at menopause and men at age 70, according to the current recommendations.
