Dr. Athena Andersen believes that the practice of medicine is a collaborative effort between the patient and the physician, with the physician listening carefully to completely understand the needs and desires of the patient. She feels that the physician and patient should work together to determine a treatment plan that is effective and fits with the patient?s lifestyle. Dr. Andersen received her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She served her family practice internship and residency at the Department of Family Medicine, University of California, Irvine, where she also served as Chief Resident. She is board certified in family practice. Dr. Andersen feels that educating her patients about living a healthy lifestyle is key, as a healthy lifestyle often prevents disease. She has special interests in women?s health, preventive medicine and diabetes. When she is not working, Dr. Andersen loves to read, paint, create scrapbooks and spend time with her children.
